Psychological Science is a bi-monthly journal organized by the Chinese Psychological Society, hosted by East China Normal University, and published by the Editorial Office of Psychological Science. As a comprehensive academic journal in the field of psychology, it reflects the latest developments in various branches of psychology and publishes academic papers that integrate theory and practice, demonstrating foresight and originality.
Currently led by Professor Zhou Xiaolin as the Editor-in-Chief, previous Editors-in-Chief include Professors Wang Yapu, Zuo Renxia, Zhu Manshu, Yang Zhiliang, Li Qiwei, and Liang Ningjian.
The journal dates back to the founding of Information on Psychological Sciences in 1964, which was later reissued as a bi-monthly journal in 1981. In 1991, Information on Psychological Sciences was renamed as Psychological Science.
From the 5th issue in 1992 to the 6th issue in 2009, the Department of Psychology of the University of Hong Kong was a co-organizer. Co-organizers until the 6th issue in 2022 include the Department of Psychology of South China Normal University (from the 5th issue in 2010) and the Department of Educational Psychology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (from the 1st issue in 2010).
Aimed at advancing psychological science in China, Psychological Science comprehensively reflects the latest academic achievements in various branches of psychology, both domestically and internationally. It publishes papers focusing on theoretical and experimental basic research, as well as applied research in the field of practice.
To meet the growing needs of psychological science in China, Psychological Science has expanded from 64 pages per issue to 256 pages per issue. It has established sections such as “Fundamentals, Experimentation, and Ergonomics”, “Development and Education”, “Society, Personality, and Management”, “Statistics, Measurement, and Methods”, “Clinical and Counseling”, and “Theory and History”, with approximately 30 articles published in each issue.
Psychological Science has been indexed by major search institutions in China, including Chinese Academic Journals (CD edition) published by Tsinghua University, Chinese Journals Full-text Database published by E-Magazine, Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI) Statistical Source Journals published by Social Science Database Research and Development Center of Nanjing University, and National Database of Academic Journals in Philosophy and Social Sciences (NDAPS). The journal is internationally recognized and is included in Psychological Abstracts and the Psych INFO Databases sponsored by the American Psychological Society. Its readership includes scientific researchers, educators, students, and professionals in psychology, biology, education, medicine, engineering, management, sociology, and philosophy.
